122 miles, 94 peaks and 56,000ft of height gain - The Double Paddy Buckley Round
“I’ve always wanted to complete the trilogy of the doubles and, for me, I have left the most important one until last. The Paddy Buckley Round is where it all really started."
Nicky Spinks, 51 year old fell runner, farmer record breaker, inov-8 athlete and breast cancer survivor, has now completed double rounds of two of the three British classic 24-hour mountain challenges, having already bagged doubles of the Bob Graham in England and Charlie Ramsay in Scotland.
In May 2019, she took on the final round in the set, and the one which is considered the most difficult; 'The Paddy Buckley Round'.
No-one has ever completed a double Paddy Buckley which has twice the amount of ascent as Mount Everest.
Nicky first looked at the Paddy Buckley Round in 2005 after completing the Bob Graham. Despite awful weather conditions she 'staggered' to the finish in 25 hours and 45minutes. One month later she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
'I still, however, had unfinished business with the Paddy Buckley Round and in 2007, while still recovering from the cancer and reconstruction operations, I successfully completed it in under 24 hours (23:55).' Nicky Spinks; Inov-8.com
